Just home from the Macallan Toronto event put on by the people at Matchstick.
There we were treated to the Cask Strength, 10 year, 12 year, 15 year and 18 year old Scotchs. There was also a nice spread of Prosciutto, salami, a kielbasa-ish paté, breads, cheeses and olives. Basically all sorts of things to appeal to the my inner Italian.
Now, looking at Twitter everyone seemed to like the 18 year, but any money you remove the price/year points and for the majority of people there would likely not pick that one. That was one of two issues with the event. Not everyone truly appreciated scotch. (Personally, I preferred the 15 above all others.)
I’m admittedly not huge into scotch myself, but I took the time to actually learn about scotch going in, sampled it on my own time and got a feel for it. I’d have loved a small group (~10) with a brand ambassador to really get to know all there is to know about Macallan Scotch.
The other issue was it was a little rushed. Hustled out as there was a new group coming in literally within minutes of the presentation finishing up. I even got a cramp on the walk to King St.! Lol.
Regardless, thank you Matchstick and Macallan!
PS. To this dude who complained the entire time (I sat at the same table as him in the beginning), you’re no one to be complaining about free drink and food. If you think you are, then stay home and wait for them to come to you. Also, look up what viral marketing is… lol.
