I’ve watched Top Gun and Behind Enemy Lines and always dreamed of being behind the stick of a jet fighter dogfighting with an enemy aircraft… but then I come back to reality and remember my fear of heights and death.

So I think a happy medium would be to learn to fly. I think it would be an experience of a lifetime to take to the skies and control an aircraft. I’ve actually looked into it over the years, but never taken the plunge… part of this new shift in my site means that I have to start following through and doing some of the things I’ve always wanted to do. So here we are.

When I decide to do this, I’ll be updating this post as we go so you can experience it as well.

Update: April 11, 2012 – I found a place that does do real life dog fight simulations where you sit in the cockpit and go up against a second plane – at a starting cost of $999, it may be a bit out of my price range for a single experience for the time being.
