Credit, Where Credit is Due
Feb 24
This blog is written with a bit of frustration, a little bitterness and a lot of experience. I’m going to keep it short, because not much has to be said on the topic.
Ideas are easy to come by. You have them every day. Some are good, some are bad. Some are really good. While not all ideas are original, there are some that are ‘original’ in their message. With Twitter and it’s 140 characters, it’s easy to quickly put out an idea and get feedback.
But if you see someone tweet something that you agree with, give them credit.
If someone then asks you about that idea, refer them to the person you got the idea from.
Don’t call the idea your own. Don’t pretend you thought it. If someone makes a mistake and credits you, correct them.
You’d think it would be common sense, but in the arena of business, I guess getting ahead takes priority over being honest.
